Feedback Thoughts

Image
I think feedback is a crucial part of reaching one's full potential. The reason feedback is so important is because we are very limited in our ability to judge ourselves properly. We have an inherent blind spot because we usually have put forth our best effort in whatever we are doing so to us it appears perfect or at least hard to spot any room for improvement. We have to come to terms with the fact that our perception isn't the same as everyone else's perception. Our vantage point combined with others can result in unprecedented success. This is why it is also important to not be extremely sensitive and be able to receive feedback. This is because you and the one giving feedback are both aiming for the same goal. You must realize that the only thing in life that doesn't change, is that everything is always changing. This applies to you too, so whenever you receive critiques, you should not view it as personal because we are constantly changing and if we aren't, th...

Topic Brainstorm

Image
Topic Brainstorm possible topics: (Option 1) OU Ghost Stories- As I was scrolling through the list of possible topics this immediately jumped out at me. It's easy to talk about a topic or idea when you yourself have experienced it or the situation in someway applies to you. During the summer between my senior year of HS and Freshman year of OU, I attended a bridge program where they prepared us to be engineers and showed us the ropes of OU. The first night we were there the upperclassmen took us around OU's campus and told us about the haunted elements and legends involving our new campus. Although it was cheesy, there was a level of excitement that came over all of us as we told and listened to fictional beings that possess and dwell in our everyday environment. In short, I think it would be both easy and fun to write about this. Resource (Option 2) Greek Mythology - I read constantly as a young kid and still love reading today. I loved the Percy Jackson & the Olymp...

Week 2 Story

Image
The year is 2020. Angela and her three daughters Sarah, Emily, and Ruth are relaxing by their pool on a hot Saturday afternoon. They all drink some water to cool down and hydrate when all of a sudden the oldest daughter Sarah mentions how although she loves water, nothing quite hits the spot like lemonade. Angela nods in agreement and volunteers to go buy some in the city and bring it back for everyone to drink. Emily, the middle child, volunteers to go with her but Angela insists that they all stay and relax while she makes the quick trip. Before she leaves, she asks the girls if there is anything else she can get for them while she's out in the city. Ruth is scrolling through Instagram when she sees an add for Joe's Roses that catches her attention. She tells Angela that she wants her to bring back three roses. All of the women give her a confused look but Angela writes the request down and leaves for the city. As Angela enters the city she struggles to find the local market ...

Week 2 Reading Anthology

Image
My favorite story from the myth-folklore anthology was definitely Beauty and the Basilisk . This story kept me entertained especially because I could not predict what was going to happen next at any point in the story. This story is part of the Czech Folktales unit . Story source: The Key of Gold by Josef Baudis (1922). The summary of the story is that while gathering gifts for her children, a mother remembered that her youngest dauhter asked for three roses. She found a garden of roses and took three for her daughter. The basilisk(giant serpent) demanded that she now owed him her daughter in return for those roses and threatened her with violence. The mom eventually obliged and went back to her daughter who was surprisingly calm about the entire situation. She was ordered to nurse the gardener for several days. After this, she was told to cut off his head. She did not want to do this but eventually did. The serpents head rolled off and it was replaced by a serpent head which she agai...
