Time Strategies

Image
I have made use of planners for academic tasks almost all of my life. I rarely run out of time or mismanage my time because I have become used to giving myself an appropriate amount of time for a given task. This is the first class I have taken where the teacher even assists us in creating a schedule to work on their material. I liked the articles Eat the Frog first Thing in the Morning , and will definitely use this approach moving forward.                                                     Time Management Image

Technology

I am very familiar with the tools we will be using for this class and have already started the habit of bookmarking all of the sites I have used for this class. There are a few tools I don't use daily, but for the most part I feel like I am in my element. Technology Image

Assignments

I am really looking forward to this class' assignments. I am most intrigued by the semester long project assignment and will try to challenge myself to make something great. This is definitely unlike any other class I have taken before in that there is so much freedom and originality that you can put into everything that you turn in.                                                Image posted by Juhasz Imre

Growth Mindset

Image
I really like this idea of growth mindset. It is not uncommon to hear the criticism of our generation and how we have not hit real adversity and challenges in our lives, resulting in weak adults. We want to be hardy and resilient in order to survive and thrive in everyday life. Not only this, but after going through the growth mindset exercises, I realized how easy and reasonable it appears to be. Often times it is small changes that make the biggest difference. I agree that "yet" is also a key word to drive this movement because hope is something that motivates mankind like very few other things can. People love striving for things and hoping in the future. To conclude, I feel that this movement embodies nothing but positive ideals and plan to integrate many of the exercises into my everyday life! If given the opportunity I will track my progress and noticeable changes in upcoming blogs.               ...

Introduction

Image
Hey everyone,          My name is Donovan Mbroh and I am now a senior electrical engineering major at the University of Oklahoma. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas where I graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas. The most important thing to me is my family. I have an older sister named Hayden who is getting her PHD in Clinical psychology at UT southwestern medical center. My mom also specializes in psychology and frequently attends events as a public speaker concerning race, reconciliation, and diversity. My dad is the head of an engineering firm in Dallas. My parents are both from Oklahoma so I am very familiar with the area. I have another cousin who attends Oklahoma and many relatives in the area as well. I am a huge sports fanatic, especially when it comes to basketball and football. Oklahoma's strong sports presence was definitely a factor in me attending this university. My hobbies include involvement in church, hanging with friend...

Storybook Favorites

Image
In this blog post, I will be discussing my three favorite storybook post's from the list given to us. The first storybook that caught my attention was Odysseus Goes Home by Stephanie Wynn. This storybook puts a modern spin on the classic Greek tale of Odysseus and his adventures. In this story, Odysseus' goal is to retrieve the items on his grocery list, given to him by his wife. After reading the introduction I was definitely intrigued to read more and found the overall layout of the storybook easy to navigate. Image from  Odysseus Goes Home The second blog that I found interesting was the Heroes Revealed  storybook. This was less intuitive than the last story but what I enjoyed was how the blog started with a very simple look and slowly transitioned into a more complex visual. The idea behind this blog is that you are a fallen hero who has reached the underworld. It provides a humorous implication too as it becomes evident that you are unsure what you did while you ...

My dad was born in Ghana, west Africa. I have not been back there in around 10 years, but when I visited it left a huge impact on me. At the young age of 10 I was shown how fortunate I was to be blessed with the lifestyle that I was born into. I learned that I have no excuse to not be exceptional because I have been given so much. I also loved meeting my extended family and driving through the countryside.                                  Rural  Ghanian Village
