Reading Notes: Sinbad, Part A

First Voyage

  • Wealthy
  • sold his goods
  • sailed towards the East Indies.
  • Explored a small island on the way
  • Turned out to be the back of a sleeping whale, not an island.
  • He was left at sea
  • Found an island with people who gave him food and planned on leaving soon.

First Voyage (cont)

  • Reunited with his old crew after seeing a sailor load possessions labeled with his name.
  • He then bought his own house, reunited with family.

Second Voyage

  • Goes out to sea again
  • Falls asleep
  • In a deep and narrow valley
  • Snakes surrounded him but they only came out during the day.
  • Slept in a Cave
  • Something fell to the ground with a thud beside him.

Second Voyage (cont.)

  • Lured a bird with a diamond to drop him into its nest
  • His crew found him and they ventured to Bagdad. 

Third Voyage

  • Set sail yet again out of boredom
  • Came across savages
  • Found various herbs and fruits
  • Encountered a giant who captured them

Third Voyage(cont.)

  • The giant approached them with two more giants
  • Escaped from the Giant only to have is friend eaten by a giant snake

Third Voyage(end)

  • Grabbed the attention of a nearby crew
  • Rescued and returned to Balsora

Fourth Voyage

  • Encountered savages after going on another adventure.
  • It became apparent that the savages were cannibals.
  • Showed them how to ride horses with bridle/stirrups

Fourth Voyage(cont.)

  • The king told Sinbad he would find him a beautiful wife.
  • Sinbad's neighbor died
  • Sinbad's wife also died


Fourth Voyage(end)

  • Sinbad is close to starving
  • Killed and ate an animal.
  • Returned to Bagdad with riches from his adventure.

Hey everyone,          My name is Donovan Mbroh and I am now a senior electrical engineering major at the University of Oklahoma. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas where I graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas. The most important thing to me is my family. Week 7 Story: The Antidote

There was once a man named James who was backpacking through West Africa, hunting for wild-life. While he was exploring, he came came across a ditch with three figures inside of it. These figures were revealed to be a leopard,  a serpent, a rat, and a man. They called out to him and begged him to help them out of the hole. As a hunter, James initially felt that he should only let the man free from the hole, but after great deliberation he helped them all escape from the pit. They all swore to make it up to him and prove their worth because of this great act. A few days pasted and the serpent found James and offered him a very powerful antidote for snake poison. He told James that all he needed to do was mix the serum with a traitor's blood and the victim could then drink it and be healed. James thanked the serpent, and made sure that he always carried the serum on him. The Leopard proved his worth by joining James  in his hunting trips, and helping him catch his prey. That same w
