Origin of the Chilkat Blanket

  • Woman, daughter of the chief, marries a man from the bear tribe.
  • She escapes and marries the god of the sea.


The First Woman

  • The first woman was pulled into two separate women.
  • This is why women of the north are skilled with their hands and women of the south are great dancers.


Origin of the Winds

  • A magic doll was carved
  • The movement of this doll in the sky produced wind

The Land of the Dead

  • Woman finds out firsthand what happens when she dies.
  • Is guided by her late grandfather around the land of the dead

Cradle Song

  • Sort of unclear
  • General idea is surviving in the rough climate
  • Father returns to his family


The Wolves and the Deer

  • Wolves ate the Deer after realizing they did not have strong teeth


The Discontented Grass Plant

  • The story of how wolverines and gray wolves came to wander in the same country, but never together

Tricks of the Fox

  • Fox was thrown on an island for tricking the eagle
  • Fox made it back by tricking the fish, claiming he would count them as they guided him ack to his home.
  • He did not count and left. That's all.
